Festetics-castle

Festetics Castle is a monument of outstanding importance in Keszthely. Its construction began in the middle of the 18th century, but it did not reach its final shape until after a major reconstruction and expansion in the 1880s. Each year, the city hosts several cultural events, some of which are organized in the Festetics Palace Hall of Fame. Concerts are open in the Mirror Hall of Festetics Castle every Thursday from 7:45 pm.

Helikon Library

The 18 original or reconstructed rooms of the exhibition show the aristocratic lifestyle of the 18th and 19th centuries. The most valuable part of the palace is Hungary’s sole intact aristocratic private library.

Opened in 2016 at the Amazon House Visitor Center, the exhibition, entitled Arctic Travel, Travel Adventures, tells visitors the history of land, water and air travel over the past centuries.

Palm House

The Palm House, which opened in 2012, evokes the tradition of orangeries and tropical plant houses typical of the royal and aristocratic lifestyle. It presents the most beautiful exotic plants from Tahiti to Florida.

Hunting Exhibition

The Hunting Exhibition presents trophies of more than 200 game species from five continents. Most of the animals can be seen in their natural habitat.

Coach Exhibition

The Coach Exhibition is a collection of more than 50 coaches, carriages and sleighs related to the aristocratic lifestyle of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Hitorical model railway Exhibition

One of Europe’s largest model railway exhibitions can be seen on the second floor of the Hunting Museum.

Balatoner museum

Georgikon Manor museum

Georgikon (1797-1848) was the first independent agricultural higher education institution in Europe. Georgikon manor provided the school with the conditions for practical education and experimental farming. The Georgikon manor has been a part of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum since 1972, and is one of the most important monuments of the country.

Belvárosi Múzeumok

In the center of Keszthely there are eight unique museums: Doll Museum, Historical Panopticon, Snail Parliament, Toy Museum, Star Castle Museum, Torture Museum,  Erotic Panopticum, Nostalgic Museum.

Marzipan Museum

There is also a wide selection of special marzipan desserts in the homely confectionery. Behind the pastry shop, the Marzipan Museum displays about 100 marzipan ornaments.

Cadillac Museum

The Cadillac Museum has a valuable collection of vintage cars on display. Ever since the creation of Cadillac’s first car, it has always been a symbol of splendor and luxury, striving to create extraordinary services, beautiful exterior and interior, which can now be seen in a themed exhibition.

The findings of the permanent exhibition, which has been in operation since October 2015 in the newly established museum in Egregy, cover a wide range of time: the exhibition starts at 6,000 BC and ends in the Middle Ages.

House of Nature Visitor Center

The visitor center welcomes all nature lovers. Learn more about the vegetation and the natural values of the Keszthely hills! With help of  interactive exhibition elements, photo illustrations, audiovisual effects and realistic dioramas you can get fantastic insights into the life of the local hills.
